Privacy policy

WALink (“we”) provides WhatsApp link, QR code and analytics tools at walink.bbgames.me. This policy explains what we collect from account holders (businesses using WALink) and from visitors (people who open a WALink short link), why, and the choices you have. We process personal data in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

1. Data we collect from account holders

• Account details: name, email address and a securely hashed password.
• Workspace content: workspace and project names, short-link names, destination WhatsApp numbers and prefilled messages.
• Security data: session records including IP address and browser user agent, kept to protect your account and let you sign out other devices.
• Audit records of changes made in your workspace (for example, who edited a link and when).

2. Data we collect when someone opens a WALink link

When a visitor opens a short link, we record a click event containing only:

• the time of the click and which link was opened;
• device category (mobile, tablet, desktop), operating system family and browser family;
• country, when provided by our network provider;
• the referring website's domain (not the full address) and campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign) in the link;
• whether the link was opened from a WALink QR code;
• a pseudonymous visitor identifier derived from a keyed hash of the IP address and browser that changes every day.

We do not store visitor IP addresses, phone numbers or the content of any WhatsApp conversation. The visitor's conversation happens entirely inside WhatsApp, which WALink cannot see.

3. How we use data

• To operate the service: redirect links, show analytics, authenticate users and send account emails.
• To keep WALink safe: rate limiting, preventing abuse, investigating reports and enforcing our terms.
• To improve the product using aggregated, non-identifying statistics.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Retention

Click events are kept for your plan's analytics period (30 days on Free) and then deleted automatically. Account data is kept while your account is active. When you delete a workspace, its links and analytics are deleted immediately; backups roll over within 30 days.

5. Sharing

We use infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email delivery) who process data on our behalf under contract. If you connect an optional integration such as ChatGrow or a payment provider, we share only the data needed for that integration to work, at your instruction.

6. Your rights

You can access and correct your account data in Account settings, export or delete workspace data, and ask us to delete your account. Visitors who want to know about data relating to a specific link can contact the business that shared the link or write to us. Contact: [email protected].

7. Responsibilities of businesses using WALink

Businesses are responsible for how they use enquiries they receive, including obtaining consent before sending marketing messages on WhatsApp and complying with WhatsApp's Business and Commerce policies.
