Good to know

  • Retail barcodes (EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, ITF-14) must use numbers allocated to you by GS1. Made-up numbers can clash with real products and are rejected by retailers. Use Code 128 for internal labels.
  • Bulk generation is limited to 500 barcodes at a time.
  • Barcodes are drawn in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get EAN numbers?

From GS1 India (or your country's GS1 organisation). They license company prefixes for products.

What if I enter 12 digits for EAN-13?

We calculate the 13th check digit for you. If you enter 13 digits, we verify the check digit.

Which format should I use for my own stock?

Code 128 — it supports letters and numbers and is compact.
