Good to know

  • Instagram doesn't support prefilled DM text, so there is no message field.
  • ig.me links open the Instagram app on phones. On computers, behaviour depends on Instagram's website.
  • Links and QR codes are built in your browser. We don't look up or store the accounts you enter.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a message?

No. Meta's ig.me format has no documented text parameter, and we don't invent one.

Does the account need to be a business account?

Links work for any public account. The ref parameter is only delivered to professional accounts using the messaging API.

What's the difference from the profile QR?

The profile QR opens your profile. This one opens the chat directly.
